The Bhandup Educational Society had a humble beginning. Founded in 1965 with the legendary V.K.Krishna Menon as the first President and Adv. Shri. P.A.Menon as the Founder Chairman. With the blessings of Almighty God, a temporary structure with tiled roof and 5 rooms was put up and then an English school with 56 students blossomed on 20th June 1965 and later the high school in 1969. The foundation stone of the building complex laid by Shri. Madhukarrao Chaudhari, the then education minister of Maharashtra. The society was granted 4500 sq.yrds for a school & 5500 sq.yrds for a playground by the Government of India at the insistence of the legendary V.K.Krishna Menon, the first defence minister of free India towards the establishment of an English medium high school in Bhandup. The society started the commerce college in 1982 with the help of Mr.Sharad Shankar Dighe, the then Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and also an Ex-Member of Parliament.

Today a vast building complex has come up on the same land which houses the primary, secondary schools, Jr. College of Commerce & Science, BMS, B.Sc (Computer science) & M.Com. In 1987 the commerce college was named as V.K.Krishna Menon college in the distinguished presence of Late.Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then Governor of Maharashtra, Later the science college was named as Sharad Shankar Dighe College of Science in 2009.

Our founder chairman Adv.Shri.P.A.Menon sacrificed his entire life towards the upliftment of this institution from day one without any expectations in return. He was humble and honest when he narrated the difficulties he had to pass through his long journey of institution building where he had to face risks to his life in trying to be honest & non – corrupt. Being a staunch Gandhian, his entire life was a saga of selfless service, dedicated to causes espoused by Mahatma Gandhi who continued to be the major source of inspiration to him throughout his life besides Swami Vivekananda whose teachings Shri. Menonji held dear to him. He was instrumental in starting the Centre of Gandhian studies & Action. We realized his principled, disciplined & single minded focused dedication to create, build & shape career and destinies. His words echoes and re-echoes, “I have been an instrument in the hands of GOD all through, I attribute everything to HIM”. Our Founder joined Lord Krishna’s abode on 4th May 2019 at the age of 93 years.

As a tribute to him on 4th Oct 2019 the K.G. School, High school, the Primary school, the Jr. College of Commerce &Science and The Management college was named as under :-
a. P.A.MENON KINDER GARTEN SCHOOL.
b. P.A.MENON ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL.
c. P.A.MENON ENGLISH PRIMARY SCHOOL.
d. P.A. MENON JUNIOR COLLEGE OF COMMERCE & SCIENCE.
e. P.A. MENON INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT.
